A chillum from an Indian temple.

Friday, April 17th, 2009

A friend of ours visited a temple while in India, from where he brought us this nice chillum. He stated it was not in use anymore, because it was damaged, a little chip came off when it once fell on the floor. Therefore it was no longer sacred, and actually it was to be thrown out all together. Our friend asked if he could have the chillum for our hemp museum, to put it on display as an artefact, instead of it being thrown away. After our friend made the temple a donation he was given this beautiful smoke piece, in a handmade leather shaft.

I like the texture, I have no idea what material it is made off.

This is the artwork on the front end of the chillum, makes me wonder: Who, when, how and why….

This is the damage, the reason why this chillum went from  a sacred temple to just another piece of paraphenalia

Presenting: The Mistery Pipe!

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

What the fiets is that? That is what we asked when a friend of ours came walking into the Global Hemp Museum with this device…misterypipe01

This looks like some sort of coffee machine, a hoover or maybe even a pressure cooker.

misterypipe02

After opening the lid and inserting a glass tube, it started to look like something completely different! This looks like a state of the art smoke device! We could not figure it out right away, but after examining it a bit, it turned out to be an arabic style shisha/hookah with an electrical heating source.

misterypipe03

Judging by the size of the huge bowl it was designed to smoke apple or other flavored tobacco, maybe with a sprinkle of crushed up hash on top. The Mistery Pipe was discovered in an embassy, just before it was being demolished. The guy who did the demolishing found it and donated it to us. Can you imagine such luck? We gave him a fair bag of bud in return. Now, who wants to guess in which country’s embassy this piece was found? The embassy building was in the Netherlands, of course.

misterypipe04

The heating device works, but so far we have not smoked on it yet, so many pipes, so little time… We will start it up with our guests here, it will hit them like a train, because I willl sprinkle thoroughly.

misterypipe05

Can you see the text? It says it is a National product, made in Japan, found in the ????? embassy in the Netherlands, now it ended up in Spain… Who can help me with the translation of the apperently arabic text on the label?

The one who guesses right about the embassy will be sent a nice present. Only responses in comments below.

It looks marvellous in between our other smoke pieces, it will be an attraction for our future clients.

A Chillum made out of hemp!

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

This is probably the most unique smoke piece in the world, it’s a chillum made out of hemp sticks!

hempchillum1

The top one is the raw product, the bottom one is ready to fill and light up. Hempsticks contain a lot of cellulosis, which is being extracted while grinding up the hempsticks to a pulp. The pulp is them grinded up to very small bits, afyer which the cellulose is mixed in, to make a moldable paste. The paste is put in a mold that goes in the oven.

The product is hard and seems very durable, it is not waterproof however.

This is the raw product, actually looks like a piece of proper hash.

This hempprocuct could make a good wood replacement, hemp also makes great paper, about time the world came to sense about this multifunctional plant!

Positronics art and history.

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Positronics was the first growshop in the Netherlands, it was founded in 1986 by Wernard Bruining, who also founde the first coffeeshop in Amsterdam, the Mellow Yellow. Posi was more than a growshop, it had a clone area, openly, and they had plants flowering openly… Thos e were the days!

Positronics closed in 1996, because of a big mess in the administration they owed the Taxman so many guilders they were declared bankrupt. When we opened the Global Hempmuseum a few years later, Wernard made his collection of art and other valuables, like Cannabis Cups, available to display in our history section.

Here are a few items from this collection, which is now on display in the Gobal Hemp Club in Alora, Spain.

daliartposi

I do not know the artist, this was made by one of Posi’s regulars, but it is a very nice piece of cannabis art. I will show some details later, the smoke coming from Dali’s joint has little mushrooms in it…

posiart2

Another beauty of an unknown smoker, I’ll see if Wernard knows who were the people who made the paintings.

Cannabis seems to give people plenty of inspiration, thc dripping art…

This cabinet holds loads of Positroncs history, some cannabis cups, old seed bags and other unique items. Our foer apartments have also been decorated with items from the Global Hempmuseum, they all have their own theme. We are surrounde by history, you can still smell the aroma of joints gone by…
