New rules on the board...

Postby CoolZero » Thu Dec 16, 2004 6:10 pm

Hi there,

There are some new rules on the board right now:

1: Only registered users can post messages.
Sorry for the guest users. But some spammers are abusing this site, witch is not good.

2: If a registered user is spamming,
your IP address will be putted in a blacklist and will be banned from many other sites.

3: If a registered user is saying something bad, it will be blocked.

4: Please do not promote your website here,
be smart and e-mail us about it for linking etc…

Most of all other things are ok.
Just keep this a nice place to post your messages. This is a really nice and appreciated forum.

Thanks!
HempCity Crew

1,.. 2.....1,2,3,4

Personal opinion coming ahead.
I still respect your right to make your rules but I got
some time to kill while I'm exporting a file in Premiere so might as well let one rip.

-About registered users only posting messages.
this is always the case in every forum or BBS Ive ever run or been involved in. You start off trying to let everyone to police themselves and
eventualy someone will cross the line and force you to go to registration route. As long as its a quick process which can get the guest surfer registered and back running in 60 seconds, its usually not a problem.

-its a bit extreme to use a list as first resort, I presume you meant worst case scenario. If you kick someone off the forum for telling someone to f**k off, I wouldnt report that person to a blacklist. If someone else was trying to run an exploit or hack on your forum, hell yeah; FRY HIS ASS!!
Technical malfaisants deserve to be blacklisted but used as a reprisal for personal, behavioural or lets say, political views, it can become fascist in its very use. The EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) has a great paper on the dangers of blacklisting.
But my friend runs a forum and I agree that someone who tries to take down a site or a forum should be shunned like we do spammers.

: Please do not promote your website here,
:be smart and e-mail us about it for linking etc…

I know, I know what youre thinking...you dont want some dude coming on
and pimpin' his shop or grow room or whatever...that's cool, but hyperlinking is was makes surfing the net interesting.
There is nothing like lighting one up and taking a nice hour mindlessly surfing the net and going through sites and following their links, and going on from there on again....that's why blogs like FARK are so popular, surfers love to discover.
I mean, a nice little lady siting in a retirement home is just a click away from a beautiful museum in Napoli or a S&M boutique selling riding gear!!

Over the years I've mentioned WW on different forums dozens of times...
hell, just today I was finishing off a temporary project in a graphics shop dowtown that was really wired up big time and this is what a dozen geeks working hard on the night before Christmas Eve do (while getting paid) and some guy decided to run a 'best caption' pool: someone calls out a topic, you all put in 10$ in the pot and you have 30mins to come up with a picture or graphic from the net.

Today's caption was "Your worst nightmare waking up in the morning",

So I sent this picture of Nol:

Damn! I finished second out of twelve. I would have split it with Nol ;-)

The winner was a picture of WWE wrestler's Chyna 3 inch clitoris from her home video that she is selling (what a freaking world we live in!). Im still queasy.

Oh yeah,..where was I?
Ah yes, linking.

Linking helps you learn about a topic. Whether its some coffeshop in britain, or the Da Kine store in Vancouver that was selling marijuana like Willie Wortel for months until the media made a big deal forcing the police in a 100 man balaclava wearing assautl force armed to the teeth.
I followed the whole Colin Davies saga from the opening of the Dutch Experience to the court case based on links.

If I tell you about me, linking would definitely help.
Otherwise you have to Google different topics and rarely do people do that.
So, 1,2,3... I believe that the Centre for Research on Globalization has better material than Noam Chomsky and ZMAG or Antiwar or Emperors Clothes, that CNN is the propaganda equivalent of Pravda, that its a fact that 90% of american news comes from AP, that Bush had forewarning of 9-11, that seeing an aerial picture of WTC building 7 raises questions, as does the entry wound at the Pentagon, that the same muhajeddins who planned the NYC towers were active in Bosnia while we supported supported them, that popular music worldwide has gotten to a level of crapitude that is unequalled in history, I mean from Christs sakes, Ashlee Simpson has a career! how much more can we take? .... We have to save our planet before its too late, David Suzuki is the best vulgarizer of science since Carl Sagan, Emir Kusturica is a genius, as is chess legend (FREE) Bobby Fischer, Adam Sandler is NOT, killing a filmmaker is beyond fanatical, as are cultists Tom Cruise and John Travoltas, Arnold's Sydney comeback still makes me sick, Frank Zane had not legs, Dorian Yates had no symmetry and a beer gut, Erika Mes still lives in my dreams, Ricky Williams is being shunned because he chose pot over Paxil, the Montreal Compassion Club is still alive and kicking, M-39 is the like the Walmarts of pot over here, Kevin Costner's Field of Dreams is the sappiest film ever yet I get teary now that I have a son, Leonard Cohen is a great poet but sings worse than Dylan, La Chango Family is touring europe again next summer and will kick some serious gypsy-reggae,skalatino,cajun, funky ass from their Montreux Jazz gig and on, quebec is a province of 8 million francophones living on continent of 325 anglophones, eating a poutine will eventually kill you, as will Viagra and Aspartame, love hurts but standing in a soccer wall is sheer masochism, golf is not a sport, an NFL game is 12 minutes of action spread of 3.5 hours on TV, there will be no NHL hockey until there is a salary cap, which means more poker on the sports network, the Spurs against the Pistons is basketball hell, the Kings against the Suns is heaven, the eastern conference of the NBA sucks, you can fall asleep watching baseball and playing it too, surfing is a lot harder than i looks, skateboarder dudes are single mindledly boring, drummers always get laid, keyboard players are always stoned, finding that communal common breath with a crowd at a concert is a beautful thing when it spawns from men like Manu Chao, Jerry Garcia, Youssou nDour, but negative energy always come back in the end, learn to breathe and you will be healthier, live life, dont let it pass you by, singapore noodles must be eaten will lots of curry....... whewwwww!!
That was one long breath.

anyways, my point is, you can always Google these topics.....

Ok, back to 'work'....god Im gonna miss working here .

Keep loose,

Wow...

Postby CoolZero » Mon Dec 27, 2004 1:49 pm

Wow, that's a load of text here 8).

Well, you are right about the black list, it's just a warning for those script kiddies etc... and yes, about the linking you are also right. But some dudes are just flooding sometimes this board with every topic starting with: CHECK OUT THIS WEBSITE. Some people find this anoying.

Anyway, I agree what you are saying. But sometimes we have to make some rules, because I can show the rules when they abuse something.

Thanks anyway for the big reply :).
It's the day now after christmas, so I love some reading!
